The professional courses for beginners are aimed at all those who want to approach ceramics for the first time. They will learn the basics of this art and the techniques of the main processes, experimenting with the complete cycle of execution and production of ceramic products.
The various courses also include some guided visits to sector museums and / or production plants in order to understand the history of the production center that is Montelupo. Above all they can come to appreciate the main artisan and industrial production processes, past and current, their complexity and the possibility of workmanship and creativity available in small artisan workshops.
Participants will also be introduced to relevant tools and equipment, raw materials, processing and production systems and will acquire skills regarding the differences in clay bodies, their applications and critical issues, the different types of colours and coatings, the firing and the defectology of ceramic products. They will be taken on an educational path that leads to awareness of the entire production process avoiding the most common “defects”.
Finally, some aspects related to the entrepreneurship and marketing of ceramic products such as current markets and commercial possibilities, new technologies and their application in the ceramic artisan field will be studied in depth.
At the end of the courses, each participant will receive a certificate of attendance and a training book used for all the courses of the Montelupo Ceramics School and the CSS.
